Baby Boomer Blues
Who are they?
Baby boomers are those born during the post World War II era. The end of the war saw a surge of babies being born in such countries as Europe, Asia and North America. Roughly they are now aged between late 50s to 60 years old. Barely just a few years away from retirement, they are now feeling the crunch of the global financial crisis. This year has been the hardest for them. Company layoffs have hit a seven-year high.
Don't worry, thanks to the Internet; it creates many online working and business opportunities. There is one particularly suitable for boomers. Click and watch the moive. Learn more about how this life-time constant income can give you peace of mind.
What do Baby Boomers have Going for them?
They are probably the most optimistic bunch to walk the face of the earth. Our birth is optimism personified. Our era is the source of great trends, discoveries and inventions. Our experiences are invaluable, not the dime a dozen type. We have a treasure trove of knowledge, talents and skills. But do most baby boomers realize this?
Where are they now?
Many of my batch-mates expressed concern about what will happen to their life-long dreams now with the crisis hanging like a sword of Damocles over our heads. Their greatest hope of someday retiring in a cozy home seems bleak, that's why. Nowadays, a lot of them consider retirement like a big illusion.
How about do something you know about?
Instead of fretting for what the future holds, which neither of us can really predict with 100% accuracy, why not before becoming a retiree, don't we make full use of the few years we have left before we are legally asked to leave the confines and comforts of our salaried jobs?
As they say, opportunities abound, one just has to recognize it.
Starting a Home Business
Monetize your expertise
A home business, the kind that has a low start-up capital requirement, almost no overhead cost, no inventories or product delivery, is perfect for you.
The main idea is to market skills, talents, experience and knowledge. Things baby boomers have a lot of.
Another thing needed for this home business is time and traffic. Time to build a loyal following that in turn would generate traffic, the kind of traffic that one would literally ask for.
Opportunity is knocking your door
If this sounds an attractive proposition to you then why not give online business a try?
You might not need to wait for your 65th birthday to retire and get that dream vacation or retirement home in Boca.
You might even have a lot to spare to send your grandchildren to school or set up a trust fund for them for their college tuition.
Or make a donation to your church perhaps?
With the current financial situation, being a salaried employee and waiting to be a retiree, all these goals might seem like an impossible dream to you.

If you have a home business that could give you the extra income, then who knows these dreams might be within your grasp sooner than you think.
